The Antioch University (Ohio, USA) Board of Trustees announced that Antioch College will close as originally announced, for academic year 2008-9.
According to the Chronicle of Higher Ed, a press release issued today indicates that
the university’s trustees said they “ran out of time to reach an agreement on the transfer of the college to the independent corporation.”
This transfer of power was a condition of the alumni fundraising effort previously geared toward saving the college from closure. The Chronicle, Inside Higher Ed and other outlets will be sure to follow up on today's announcement.
