An alumni relations professional
since 1989, I have worked at Brown University (my alma mater) and the
University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). Since 1999 I have been the
Executive Director of the Caltech Alumni Association at the California

I am the founder and author of Alumni Futures, a blog focused on new directions in alumni relations and higher education. I have published articles in CASE Currents, have
written or co-authored chapters for three CASE books, and for a commercially published
book about online business networking. Involved with CASE since 1989, I
am chair of the Commission on Alumni Relations (through 2011). I also serve on the CASE Board of Trustees. I chaired the EDUCAUSE Task Force on Identity Management in higher
education. I serve on the CASE Web Advisory Committee, and in 2009 joined the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Educational Advancement.
Over the years I have presented at dozens of conferences, including CASE's Advancement Summit, CASE Assembly, the CASE Technology Forum (co-chair), District conferences, Summer Institutes, the Minary Conference on Alumni Education (chair), the Educational Travel Conference, the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education, the Council of Alumni Association Executives, and the European Association for International Education.
I do paid consulting and individualized training or speaking by arrangement. I participate in the Association of Private College and University Alumni Directors (PCUAD), and I am on the Academic Advisory Board of Illuminate Consulting Group.
I am also pursuing a Master's degree in education part-time at Claremont Graduate University. I live in Pasadena, California with my wife, my daughter and our two dogs.
