A new publication — and web site — will try to connect former community college students from California's schools.
According to the Chronicle of Higher Education,
The annual publication, named Affinity, has already been mailed to 16,000 alumni of the state's 110 community colleges. The web site (which I presume mirrors the print vehicle) is nicely-designed — it just needs some RSS feeds for event listings under the individual colleges' pages.
The Chronicle article concludes,
Paul Lanning, the [Foundation for California Community Colleges'] president and chief executive, said providing centralized alumni-communications channels to the colleges offered a chance to reach the millions of Californians who have attended the state’s community colleges.
The integrated "online + print" multi-campus approach makes sense from a financial and organizational point of view, especially since advancement resources are relatively scarce in community colleges. And the Affinity web site offers "marketing tools for colleges to reach alumni, such as templates for postcards, fliers, and Web pages."
Could be useful.
